Пояснительная записка

В современном образовательном процессе особая роль отведена практическому применению полученных знаний. Практические работы — неотъемлемая часть процесса обучения и на уроках иностранного языка. Выполнение практических работ предоставляет возможность применить теоретические знания на практике, отработать все виды деятельности на уроке, такие, например, как чтение, письмо, устная речь. Практические работы также способствуют воспитанию у обучающихся трудолюбия и развитию самостоятельности.

Содержание практических заданий направлено на:

формирование практических умений в соответствии с требованиями к уровню подготовки обучающихся, установленными рабочей программой учебной дисциплины:

– заполнять различные виды анкет, сообщать сведения о себе;

– понимать относительно полно (общий смысл) высказывания на изучаемом иностранном языке в различных ситуациях общения;

– понимать основное содержание текстов познавательного характера на темы, предлагаемые в рамках курса, выборочно извлекать из них необходимую информацию;

– вести диалог в бытовой, социокультурной и учебно-трудовой сферах;

– рассказывать о себе, своих планах;

Обучающиеся должны использовать приобретенные знания и умения в             практической и профессиональной деятельности, повседневной жизни.

Практические работы проводятся в учебном кабинете, в объеме, предусмотренном рабочей учебной программой, обязательным этапом является самостоятельная деятельность обучающихся.

Оценки за выполнение практических работ выставляются по пятибалльной системе. Оценки за практические работы являются обязательными текущими оценками по учебной дисциплине и выставляются в журнале теоретического обучения.

 Методические указания  включают в себя следующие разделы:

-проверку знаний — проверка теоретической подготовленности по теме практического задания;

— инструктаж  — информация для обучающихся  о целях, средствах, трудоемкости, сроках выполнения, основных требованиях к результатам работы, формах контроля практических заданий;

— выполнение задания — выполнение практического задания в соответствии с технологической картой;

 анализ проделанной работы — анализ  полученных результатов, характер и причины ошибок, степень овладения обучающимися запланированных умений.

I want to tell you about my neighbor. We are good friends with him. He is quite tall, with short red hair and kind blue eyes framed with short red eyelashes and thick flat eyebrows. He has an athletic build. His face is oval, he has got long thin nose and thin lips. He is very friendly. When I was moving in our house he suggested to help me with my things. That’s how we met for the first time. I noticed at once that he is very elegant and stylish. He is always neat and well-shaved. Later I found out that he is also very smart and intelligent person. He likes to study and share what he has already learned. It is always interesting to talk to him.

“My family”

Now I’m going to tell you about my family. It’s rather small. There are only three of us – me, my mother and my father. We live ….. in our flat. But also I have grandparents and many relatives who live apart from us but we see each other very often.

My mom’s name is Maria. She is pretty, ……woman with long dark hair and shining grey eyes. My mother works as a secretary in the office, she’s intelligent and she is always ……  She is kind and social person, she is in good mood most time. My mother has a lot of friends and they often visit her. Mom has real ….in cooking. I like to help her in the kitchen.

My grandparents are not very old. They live not far from us in a private house with a big garden in the yard. They both retired and now spend most of their time in the garden. They are my father’s parents. As for my mother parents they live abroad. Last time I saw them on last year Christmas party. They are kind and cheerful people.

I have many cousins. One of them Sveta is also my best friend. Sveta is 2 years older. She is funny and clever; I can talk with her for hours. She plays piano and sings well. Sveta’s always willing to help me with studying. We usually have a real good time together.

I spend a lot of time with my family. We go for a walk together, visit friends and……, watch films or just talk. I ….my family very much.

Разработка заданий к практическим работам по иностранному языку

n the picture you can see some buildings of Frankfurt. These buildings obviously remind of the business centre in Moscow – the City, or vice versa. Three skyscrapers are joined together by the corridor. There must be more than 40 floors in each building. The windows are open on some of the floors.

All buildings are made of glass and metal in an ultra-modern style. So they create a feeling of light, almost invisible constructions. The glass has a mirror effect, so we can see that some elements of the environment (trees, for example) are reflected by them.

The sky is covered with grey clouds; there is no sign of the sun, so it feels like it is going to rain.

My house is a two-storey building. Last year the iron fence was put around the house, there are also a gate which leads to the front door of the house and the back door which leads to the backyard. The walls are quite thick so the house is sturdy. The walls are painted in yellow color and the roof is green. There is a chimney on the top of the roof and a skylight, through which the light penetrates to the attic. There is a basement, where I store all my old stuff. There are also two balconies. And I forgot to mention a small garden where my mom grows different plants. Oh yes, and there is a garage, my dad keeps in it his car and I keep my bicycle.

Being not an early riser, I always get up at 7.30. Then I go to the bathroom to have a shower and to clean my teeth. At 8 o’clock I have breakfast. It usually consists of two sandwiches, an egg and a cup of tea or coffee. After that I get dressed and left home for the university (school, office). As a rule, it takes me half an hour to get there. My study (work) begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 or 5 p.m. I have lunch at about midday. On the way home I visit a neighboring store to buy some food. When I get home I cook dinner. Then I have a meal. In the evening I usually have a rest, watching TV or reading books. Sometimes I play computer games or surf the Net. At 10 o’clock I prepare for sleep. I go to bed at half past 10 or at 11 p.m.

Hobbies differ like tastes. If you have chosen a hobby according to your character and taste you are lucky because your life becomes more interesting.

Hobbies are ….into four large classes: doing things, making things, ….things, and learning things. The most popular of all hobby groups is doing things. It includes a wide variety of activities, everything from gardening to travelling and from chess to volleyball.

Gardening is one of the oldest of man’s hobbies. It’s a well-known fact that the English are very fond of gardening and growing flowers, especially roses.

Both grown-ups and children are fond of …..different computer games. This is a relatively new hobby but it’s becoming more and more popular. ….things includes drawing, painting, making sculpture, designing costumes, handicrafts. Two of the most famous hobby painters were President Eisenhower and Sir Winston Churchill.

Some hobbyists ….music or play musical instruments. Almost everyone collects something at some period in his life: stamps, coins, matchboxes, books, records, postcards, toys, watches. Some collections have no real value. Others become so large and so valuable that they are housed in museums and galleries. Many world-famous collections …in a small way with one or two items. People with a good deal of money often collect paintings, rare books and other art objects. Often such private collections are ….to museums, libraries and public galleries so that others might take pleasure in ….them.

No matter what kind of hobby a person has, he always has the opportunity of learning from it. By reading about the things he is …in, he is adding to what he knows. …things can be the most exciting aspect of a hobby.

Пример

I have several hobbies and each of them is equally important to me. First of all, I cannot imagine my life without learning foreign languages. It’s so interesting to compare English with Spanish, Russian with German and so on. I have found out that there are a lot of English words in my native language too. This idea makes me look for more common features and share them with others. It’s wonderful to understand foreign music and popular movies.

When I have some free time, I tend to embroider something. This helps me relax and I seem to inherit it from my grandma. She also enjoyed sitting with a needle in the evenings before TV. I like presenting embroidered pictures to my friends. Such things are better than gifts from the shop.

Reading is my third favorite pastime. It’s a good idea to read before bedtime to focus on something different from work and get ready to sweet dreams!

Практическая работа № 12.

1. Прочитайте и попробуйте описать местоположение данного объекта:

Walk out of the front door of Palace House, and turn right. You’ll see a fork just ahead of you, with two paths going off to your left. Take the right hand fork and walk along to the corner where there’s a nice view of the river. Follow the path round, and walk along to Central Drive. The station’s 100 metres past it on your left. Take a monorail to the Museum Station, and go down the left hand steps. Turn right and walk along for a couple of hundred metres. On your right you’ll see the main entrance to the museum. Don’t go in, but keep on to the ‘crossroads’. Go straight across, then bear left. Walk up to the bend, and keep going. Take the first left, then the first right. Carry on for about two hundred metres. Stop.

My village.

A village is a quiet, peaceful place outside the city, which is a perfect place for rest. My native village is situated in Azovsky District and it’s called Alexandrovka. At the moment my grandparents live there and we often visit them. I grew up in this village, as my parents were most of the time at work. So, my grandmother raised me and I feel there at home. Each weekend or holiday season I spend in Alexandrovka. My favourite time of the year is summer. It’s the time when I can live there for three months. Our house is comparatively small, but it’s not a problem for us. It’s a one-storey house with a basement and an attic. There are three bedrooms in the house, a kitchen, a bathroom and a toilet. The house is surrounded by enormous land. This is where my grandparents grow fruit and vegetables. Every summer we have our own harvest of potatoes, tomatoes, cabbages, various herbs, apples, plums, apricots. There is a small flower bed as well. This is where my grandma grows the tulips and the daffodils. We also have a summer bath in the backyard. It is a very convenient invention. It saves lots of water and energy. Other houses in the village are similar to ours. By the way I have many friends in the village, so there is no time to be bored. We swim in the nearest lake, we play hide-and-seek and we simply run around during the summer days. Thus, summer in my village flies quickly. On the 1st of September I have to be in the city, as the school starts. However, I look forward to new weekends and holidays to go to the village. Being there is a real pleasure for me.

C Dickens’s London

Follow in the footsteps of Charles Dickens, the nineteenth century writer, and listen as we recite parts of his novels and bring characters like Oliver Twist vividly to life. Food in our life.

Food is a very important thing in our life. We eat to support our body in good condition. Food shortage leads to exhaustion of organism together with mental problems such as depression and apathy.

However, overeating doesn’t bring benefit either. Excess weight can do even more harm than underweight. The reason of it is that a stout person mainly takes heavy and greasy food neglecting completely the rules of healthy nutrition. Overweight people can’t proud themselves on good health. In general they are prone to different kinds of diseases: from heart and vascular diseases up to chronic ones.

So, first of all we have to learn the basic rules of healthy eating. It’s very easy. Food that is rich in calories is allowed only in small quantity. So to speak, one must know when to spot. Alcohol consumption to excess is also forbidden.

Then what foodstuff should we buy when shopping? First and foremost dairy products and vegetables (as well as fruits). In addition we have to consume greens, cereals (porridges) and boiled meat, particularly chicken-meat.

Moreover, general calorie intake is not less important. For an ordinary person this number shouldn’t exceed 2000 for females and 2500 for males.

Nutritional value

We should pay attention to food ingredients and food’s nutritional value. Nutritional value is the information about the energy (in calories), carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals contained in a product. Analysis of this information helps to make the best choice of food for a healthy diet.

Fast food

Nowadays fast food restaurants open everywhere – from big megalopolises to small towns. They have their advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, McDonalds, KFC and Subway help us save our money and time, but, on the other hand, they don’t offer us healthy meals. Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, fries, muffins and milk cocktails are tasty, but not very good for our health and figure.

Healthy diet

If we want to live long, we should pay attention to what we eat. A healthy diet usually includes a lot of fruit and vegetables, regular portions of fish or white meat, grains, nuts and a few liters of water per day. It is better to choose products without artificial ingredients and with minimal quantity of sugar.

The health of a person is the main value in the life. It cannot be bought with any money! There is no price for it. Being the sick person, you cannot realize all your dreams and be successful in the modern world. But how to be healthy, when there are a lot of fatal temptations around us?
Don`t begin! Don`t make the first cigar inhalation, the first sip of alcohol! Everything begins so simply, but comes to the end with a trouble.
It was said so much about the harm of smoking. For a long time it has been proved, that smoking is not only reflected on the budget of a family, pollutes air, but also ruins our health. But, in spite of all that the number of smoking people is not diminished. And what is more grievous, not only the teens but also the junior schoolboys begin to smoke.
I think those, who don`t do his (her) best in study or school life, as a rule begin to smoke at the school age. It was proved, that there is no such organ which would not suffer from smoking. Smoking is not a harmless pastime which can be given up without efforts. It is necessary to have the will — power to stop smoking.
In addition to smoking, we can name the other fatal habit: the drinking of alcohol. Unfortunately, very often they combine with each other. Alcohol is a poison! Having penetrated into an organism, it has destroyed the brain of the person for some months. A great man said that drinking alcohol is a voluntary mad, and I think he was right. Under the influence of alcohol the person can make absolutely rash actions. The matter is that alcoholis the drug, and drugs influence on the brains of the person. Especially alcohol is very dangerous for the young because their organism is exposed to the influence of harmful substances more easily. Even a single sip of alcohol causes a poisoning which can lead to death. And the usage of drugs … They ruin all human organs, so the drug addicts die young. Few of them live longer than several years after they have started taking drugs.
So, I consider that there is no place to these habits in our life. To my mind, only healthy people should live on our planet and then our Earth will be brighter and more beautiful, because only the healthy person will provide its further development and prosperity.

As for me, I’m just crazy about travelling by sea. I believe that this voyage gives you a lot of unforgettable emotions and impressions. Besides, a good opportunity arises — swimming in pure water. Nevertheless, I don’t like jellyfish too much and at any case try to avoid their presence.

And if something goes wrong, you can just change plans or even cancel them. On top of that, with the help of the car you can see the places which are not provided by bus tours. Despite all advantages and disadvantages, any kind of travels will do a person only good and bring many unforgettable memories.

Novorossiysk is situated in the geographical point where three typys of environment meet: sea, mountains and steppes.

During the Great PAtriotic War Novorossiysk became the arena of very severe combats. Due to courage and firmness of soviet warriors the enemy, who was heading for the Caucuses, was stopped here by the walls of the city in September of 1942.

Small land is a bridgehead with the area of 27 square kilometers. For 225 days and nights there were fierce fights here.

The Germans sent to divisions and lots of tanks against the marines. The enemy`s artyllery and frontline aveation rained down bombs and shells on the position of the marines.This unequal fight lasted for three days and nights, but the marines were able to hold the bridgehead until the landing of the main forces of the 18th landing army under the command of lieutenant general Leselidze K.N.

There are lots of monuments in Novorossiysk. On the square of Freedom, in the centre of the city, the sculptural group of city defenders (a soldier, an infantryman and a girl- partisan) stiffened in their rushing forward movement. Above them proudly flutters the standard of victory.

And on the seafront on the rising concrete wave stands a torpedo launch, the symbol of fast warships that assaulted the city in 1943. A bit further you can see the bronze figure of the Unknown Sailor.

The bright pages of the city history, immortallized in stone and bronze, names of streets and squares, are connected with the revolutionary, war and labour traditions.

Places of Interest in Great Britain

Great Britain is the main English-speaking country in the world. It consists of England, Scotland and Wales. There are many interesting sights in each of these countries and their capitals: London, Edinburgh and Cardiff. Millions of people visit Britain every year to learn more about its places of interest. One of the most thrilling sights is the Stonehenge. It’s an ancient monument made of stones standing either in circle or in a horseshoe shape. The origin and the meaning of these stones remains a mystery. However, the scientists think that it was used as a prehistoric calendar. Another attractive sight is Stratford-upon-Avon. It’s a small city in England, where the most famous English writer Shakespeare was born. Stratford-upon-Avon is not only his birthplace. He also lived and created his plays there. Lots of people come to see the Shakespeare’s house in Henley Street and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Other famous cities which attract lots of visitors are Oxford and Cambridge. These cities have become well-known thanks to their educational features. The best and highly-respected universities in the world are situated here. Nearly everyone wishes to study in Oxford or Cambridge, as it’s considered to be a very prestigious education. Many British places of interest are situated in the capital-city of London. Among them, the Buckingham Palace, which is the Queen’s official residence, the Westminster Abbey, where the most prominent Englishmen are buried, Big Ben, which is the biggest clock in the world, the Tower of London, which has once been a fortress, a prison and a royal palace. Tourists, who are passionate followers of the music band “Beatles”, might want to visit Liverpool. It’s a home town of this famous band. The football fans will enjoy a trip to Manchester, which is a home city of a world-famous team Manchester United. Natural attractions of Great Britain are also interesting. For example, the Scottish Highlands, Loch Ness Lake, the Lake District and some others.

The popularity of the English language

There are over 300 million people in the world speaking English. English is used as an official language (along with a few others) in many international organisations, such as UN and IOC. This language is recognized as the state language in a lot of countries all over the world.

Great Britain

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland consists of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. There are 64 million people in Great Britain whose first language is English (97% of population). London, the capital of Great Britain, is one of the leading global cities. It is the political, economic and cultural centre of the country. Great Britain has always been a Great Power and contributed a lot to the development of new territories.

The USA

The history of the USA started with 13 British colonies set along the Atlantic coast. On July, 4, 1776 they proclaimed their independence from Great Britain. Today the country consists of 50 states and the federal District of Columbia, where Washington, the capital of the USA, is located. It is one of the most developed countries in the world, with English being the first language for about 80% of its population.

Canada

The first European colonists came to this country from France. But after that for many years Canada was under British rule until the country gained its independence in the XX century. There are two official languages in Canada. English is the first language for nearly 70% of Canadians. Canada is the second largest country in the world with rich oil, coal and natural gas fields.

Australia

Australia is the only country in the world which occupies the whole continent. The exploration of the continent began in the late XVIII century when the first British colonies were formed. Australia was a place where prisoners were serving their sentences in exile. Today the country is among the most developed countries in the world, with 80% of the population speaking Australian English.

New Zealand

New Zealand occupies two large islands and many small ones in the south-western part of the Pacific Ocean. First Europeans started visiting New Zealand in the late XVIII century with the territory being announced as a British colony in 1788. The country gained its independence in the middle of the XX century. New Zealand is one of the most beautiful countries in the world with unique flora and fauna. English is spoken by more than 96% of the population.

Scientific and technical progress

The basis of scientific and technical progress of today is new informational technology which is very different from all the previous technologies. Thanks to up-to-date software and robots new informational technologies can make many processes much faster and transmit information more quickly. It is important today because the quantity of information grows rapidly.
New informational society has its peculiarities. Firstly, more and more employees work in the sphere of service and information. Secondly, more and more huge databases appear to collect and store the information. And finally, information and IT become goods and start playing important part in the country’s economy.
These processes affect social structures and values.
It becomes important to learn to get new knowledge quickly and sometimes to change your qualification. IT can first lead to unemployment, but later create even more workplaces especially for highly qualified professionals. While the hardest work can be performed by robots and routine calculations by computers, in the future people with the most creative mind and numerous fresh ideas will get better career chances.
On one hand technology development gives more access to professional and cultural information and leads to new forms of individual enterprises, but on the other hand there is a danger of total control of private life unless special laws are enforced by the government.
Another danger is «intellectual terrorism» when computer viruses block important programs.
There are other directions of technical and scientific progress of today.
One of them is the development of new ecologically clean sources of energy using sun, gravitation, winds or rain. New kind of transports and new agricultural methods that do not harm our nature are being developed today.
Breakthroughs in science have led to creation of artificial viruses for new medicines and products, body organs for transplantation and productive soils for growing vegetables and crops. Many new materials and technologies are being used in our everyday life.
All these innovations may have influence on our life, social relations and globally on our Earth.
The influence can be very different: from psychological and health problems of children who spend too much time online to an opportunity to prevent genetic diseases for future generations.
But the most difficult problems the humanity faces are global problems.
The first and foremost is ecological problem: pollution of air, water and soil, exhaustion of natural resources. Renewable natural resources such as oxygen, forests, flora and fauna do not have enough time to regenerate. This leads to different changes in climate and nature such as depletion of ozone layer and other things that has not been properly studied by scientists yet.
Other crucial problems include wars, epidemics, and demographic problems.
The only way to solve them is to work globally and in cooperation with other countries. And here the humanity should find a way to use new technologies for the common good. The solution of these problems cannot be postponed because otherwise people will have fewer chances to survive on this planet.

Bill Gates

William Henry Gates, also known as «Bill», has established himself as the richest man in the world. He is the youngest self made billionaire, and perhaps the best businessman in the world.

Bill Gates is important because he did not only change the computer technology in America, but also created the biggest, strongest, richest and the most powerful company in the world.

Bill was born on October 28, 1955, his parents, Mary and Bill, had one other daughter Kristi. Gates began his career in PC software, programming computers at age 13.

As to his education, he attended a well-known private school in Seattle, Washington called Lakeside. At Lakeside, he met his future business partner Paul Allen. Bill Gates entered Harvard in 1973.

He created the programming language BASIC. Gates attended Harvard University and after a few years Gates and his business collaborator, Paul Allen, dropped ou t of Harvard to begin the Microsoft Corporation in 1975.

Throughout his life, Gates had many experiences with business. Allen and Gates started a small company called Traf-O-Data. They sold a small computer outfitted with their program that could count traffic for the city.

Gates also worked at a programming company called ‘TRW. After all his minor jobs, Gates and Allen founded Microsoft in 1975, the largest computer based company in the world. Gates is the Chief Executive officer and Paul Allen is VP. They are both very wealthy due to this business.

Gates believes that if you are intelligent and know how to apply your intelligence you can accomplish anything. Bill works very hard to carry out his vision.

His belief in high intelligence and hard work is what put him where he is today, as well as being in the right place at the right time. He doesn’t believe in luck or any sort of god, just hard work and competitiveness.

«Trey» as he is called at home is a remarkable man who has been able to go into the world spotlight as a genius at what he does. His welfare until today is worth about 92,000,000,000 dollars.

Let’s compare my life nowadays with the life of pupil at the beginning of the 20st century. It has changed beyond recognition. The Bermuda Triangle
On December 5th, 1945 five US Navy planes took off from Fort Lauderdale In Florida. There were 14 pilots on board. Some time after the take off the control tower got a message from one of the planes. “There’s something wrong. The magnetic compass is going crazy. We don’t know where we are.” Soon the five planes disappeared. Boats and planes went immediately to look for the lost planes but they were not successful. There were neither crashed planes nor dead bodies. The accident happened in the area called Bermuda Triangle. It/s a large part of the Atlantic Ocean between Bermuda, Southern Florida Puerto Rico. Many ships, planes and about 1,000 people have disappeared in this area. One of the explanations is that underwater earthquakes cause huge waves called tsunami. They also produce very strong winds. Both can destroy ships and planes. Another theory says that there is a strange magnetic force in this area. It can really break a ship into pieces. Scientists also speak about the methane gas on the sea floor of the Bermuda Triangle. When it comes out and mixes with the air, it’s so powerful that it can stop the ship/s or the plane’s engine. It can also start a fire. Than the explosion destroys the ship or the plane completely. Some people believe that aliens carry away people together with the machines. Weather

Weather is something we can talk about every day. In the place where I live it’s very changeable, so people always inquire what it is going to be like tomorrow. My city is situated in southern part of Russia and we have four seasons here: winter, spring, summer and autumn. My favourite one is summer because it’s hot then and I can swim in a nearby river. When the weather is fine I can also ride my bike. However, it’s not always hot here even in summer. As I’ve mentioned before, the weather is rather changeable here. It can bring sunshine and heat one day, rain and cold the next day. Autumn brings heavy rains and winds to our region. Honestly, I don’t like autumn. Starting from late October almost every day it’s muddy and gloomy outside. Winters are mild here. The first snow falls at the beginning of December. It quickly melts though. There are some really cold days in January and February. I like the days when the sun is shining but it’s frosty outside. My friends and I go sledding or snowballing on such days. Spring starts with sunshine and warm winds. When the snow melts away you can see the primroses make their way out of the ground. April and May are quite warm months. Birds start singing, trees start blooming, and there are lots of tulips and daffodils around. I hear my neighbors often discuss the weather. They usually say “A nice day, isn’t it?” or “It looks like rain”. They also ask each other about weather forecast. I think that weather is the most popular topic for conversation. I’ve heard that English people also like discussing the topic of weather.
